Register as new user Colour Ringing The purpose of this page is to make it easy for observers to report information on colour-ringed birds. After registering as a user, you can report the colour code you have seen and immediately receive data on where the bird has been ringed and observed before. Click here to show all projects and information on reporting Here you will find the largest projects - Gulls (except Kittiwake with black ring - 3 letters) with the following colour rings: Pale blue ring with black characters for large gulls Dark blue ring with white characters for large gulls Black ring with white characters for large gulls White ring with black characters for small gulls Green ring with white characters for small gulls White ring with black characters for Herring Gull and Lesser Black-backed Gull. 68 ind. ringed with code JAnn (where nn are numbers) All the rings are coded with letters and numbers (four altogether (and five for black and white rings, and white and black rings)) starting with a "J". Report gulls here - Swans with the following colour rings: Black ring with three or four white characters Report Swans here - Barnacle goose with the following colour rings: Grey ring with three black letters Report Barnacle goose here - Coot and Moorhen with the following colour rings: Green ring with white characters All the rings are coded with letters and numbers (four altogether). Report Coot and Moorhen here - Crane with the following colour rings: 3 colour rings at each tibia and metal ring at tarsus. There are no characters at the rings. Report Crane here - Hooded Crow and Rook with the following colour rings: White ring with black characters All the rings are coded with 4 characters (A000-A299). A metal ring should be reported to Stavanger Museum at this site: www.nhm.uio.no/fagene/zoologi/fugl/ringmerking/Rapport_gjenfunn.htm Do you have a colour ringing project? There will be more projects included here in the near future. If you have a project that you want to promote on these pages, please contact administrator post@ringmerking.no. The only demand is that every bird has its individual colour code and that EURING-agreement is needed in order to avoid overlapping projects (www.cr-birding.be). The projects on this page are mainly Norwegian, but other projects can be assessed. Proposals for improvements This site will be regularly updated. If you have suggestions to things that can be improved or any good ideas, please contact post@ringmerking.no. Who is behind ringmerking.no This website has been created by OK Bjørnstad in collaboration with Museum Stavanger, the Norwegian Environment Agency and ringers who do colour-ringing of birds. Each color marking project has its administrators who quality check incoming observations. Readings and recoveries are regularly sent to Museum Stavanger.
